HA Junior High Boys Soccer Team

2017 Rising Stars Soccer Tournament Montgomery, AL.

The Raiders played Saint James Trojans soccer team on Saturday 8 April 2017 at 2:30 pm. The Raiders came into the game knowing that they needed to win and for Alexander City Wildcats to lose to the Pike Road Patriots, in order to play in the Tournament Championship game against Montgomery Catholic.

The Raiders went on attack and within the first 12 minutes of the game they had scored 3 goals. Braden Phillipps, attacking midfielder scored 2 goals, with assists from Luke Thompson and Conner Hexenson. Then, Drake Vaudo scored unassisted. The Raiders offense dominated the 1st half with 21 shots on goal, while the Trojans had only 1 shot. The 1st half ended with the Raiders leading the match with a score of 3 to 0.

The 2nd half continued with the Raiders offensive attack as they finished the scoring with a shot from Drew Marshall, forward. He received a long pass from Landon Wheelless for the assist. The Raiders took a total of 32 shots, 6 corner kicks on goal. The defensive unit was led by Davis Mims, JC Daugherty, Thomas Barron, Luke Fernandez, and Logan Bolton.

The Raiders would not go forward into the championship game, since Alexander City Wildcats won against Pike Road Patriots . Their tournament record was 2-1, scoring 5 goals and only allowing only 1 goal.

The Raiders were recognized with six players as ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM PLAYERS. This included Davis Mims, Landon Wheelless, Drake Vaudo, Drew Marshall, Braden Phillipps, and JC Daugherty.

The Raiders JV/Junior High boys’ soccer team will be hosting Montgomery Academy on Tuesday 11 April 2017 at 5:00 pm at the Westgate Soccer Complex. Their season record is 8-9-1.
