New Brockton High School
Houston Academy advances to the semifinals with a dramatic walk off win in game 2 of their quarterfinal series vs New Brockton.
With one out in the bottom of the 8th inning and the score tied at 1, Dylan Rice delivered a single to score Warner Blake and send the Raiders to the semifinal round of the AHSAA playoffs.
Harrison Reeves threw all 8 innings on the mound, striking out 10 batters while allowing only 4 hits. On offense for HA Dylan Rice led the way with a double and a single and 1 rbi. Brady Johnson added a triple, while Will Baker and Jeffrey Omohundro each had singles. Ashton Klein drove in the other HA run with a squeeze bunt in the 4th inning.
In game 1, HA took a 5-1 lead to the 7th inning and added 3 more runs to cruise to a 8-1 victory.
On the mound, Tristan Harvin improved his record to 10-0 with a complete game striking out 9 batters, and allowing only 1 run on 5 hits.
On offense for HA, Will Baker led the way going 3-5 with 2 rbi, 3 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Brady Johnson added a double and an rbi, while Jeffrey Omohundro, Ashton Klein, Warner Blake and Harrison Reeves all had singles.
HA will travel to Mobile to face Mobile Christian next week. Dates and times to be determined.
